First of all, this is proof that the "myth" of the Scorpion is alive and quite real in the desert. We found this "long dead" scorpion on our lot - not a welcome discovery, but also not such a surprise. We hope that the only ones we ever see are like this one - long dead!
We have set up our very own "outdoor theater" on the sun deck. This very old TV and the converter box/rabbit ear set up works great up on the deck - for local TV. Now when the temps get too warm to be comfortable inside in the evenings, we can retreat to the roof and enjoy the desert night sky while also enjoying local tv. Future plans are in the works to get a feed from our Satellite, but that is not functional at this time. If the spirit moves us, we will just remain on the deck and sleep under the stars in the cool night air of the wonderful desert. Life is truly very good!
Tonight is the night of the "SuperMoon" - Every 18 years or so the moon comes the closest to the Earth that it ever does. Tonight is that night and it is also a full moon. The "SuperMoon" is called that because the full moon appears to be about 14% larger and 30% brighter than a normal full moon because the moon is actually about 20-30 thousand miles closer to Earth than anyother time in the years orbit. The last "SuperMoon" was in 1993 and the next on won't be until 2029. Because of all that, we just had to check it out!
This is proof that we were there and witnessed this historic phenomon. The picture doesn't do the event justice. The moon was awesome, but trying to get us and the moon in the same picture was not possible with the camera we had. Still, we had a great time and hope you all enjoy the effort. We hope that we are all around to witness the next "SuperMoon" - maybe we should organize a party?
