Summer has come early at Pio Pico!

April 13, 2008

Just a few days ago it was raining and cold - now today it is over 95 degrees and we are wishing for some of the cooler weather! We are just never satisfied, huh? At least the Santa Ana winds have died down so we aren't having to hang on for dear life when we leave the coach.

We had planned a "gathering" of sorts to christen MJ and John's new BBQ on Wednesday April 9th, but the day started out so crummy and cold that we decided to postpone it until Thursday. The 10th dawned with bright sunshine and gentle breezes - so the BBQ was on!

Here, the "Girls", are cooking and enjoying some wonderful Margarita's. From left to right we have Mel, Me (Linda), Jo, Darlene, and MJ. First of all, isn't the little BBQ/Smoker so cute! It is the perfect size for one of these lease sites. Andy and I just purchased a new blender - so we had to try it out, right? Of course!!! I obtained the recipe for some "killer" Margarita's from our friends in Lake Havasu City (Shirley & Willie) and proceeded to mix some up. Everybody loved them - especially me, but that is another story.

Our happy little group, from left to right, Bill and his wife Mel, Gene and his wife Darlene, John, me (Linda), Ken and his wife Jo, MJ and Andy. Paul arrived later after getting off work, so he is missing from the picture. Also friends Ray and Diane have been sick with bad colds and opted to stay home and rest.

Now, for the rest of the story - - - apparently I kept losing my drink all night. Unfortunately, I must have found it numerous times because it took all day Friday to recuperate! In any case, the phone rang early Friday morning and the message left was from Gene telling me where to find my drink! Sure enough, it rode on the bumper thru the park from MJ and John's site back to ours late Thursday night. Unbelievable that it didn't spill!

Saturday, April 12th, my (Linda's) Brother Lawrence and his wife Connie came out to enjoy a day with us in "paradise". Well, the temps were warm and the sun was shining - but paradise it wasn't! The winds blew most of the day making sitting outside not very enjoyable. Fortunately, when it was time to fire up the BBQ to cook dinner, the winds subsided and we were able to enjoy a little time on the patio. From left to right we have Connie, Linda, Andy and Lawrence (holding Atticus). We all had a wonderful day enjoying each other, playing some great Hand & Foot, and eating way too much!

For now and the next several weeks we will be hanging around here. It is about time to start back up with the rest of our Doctor/Dentist stuff before we head North. Be sure to check back here for an update to our travel schedule - once we figure it all out!
