Getting "Stuff" done in Oregon.....

We have been in Oregon for almost a week and some of the "stuff" we need to get done is beginning to happen. Of course, we have gotten alot of shopping done - probably more than we needed to, but hey....it is Oregon and there isn't any sales tax!

Update on my Mom - as of today we are really happy to be able to say that my Mom is doing much much better. The meds they have her on are helping and she is regaining her strength. Yesterday she was able to take a shower and wash her hair without hardly any assistance - that is a major step in the right direction. She will likely be in the hospital in the rehabilitation wing for at least one more week and possibility two, but then she should be back home where she will be way more comfortable. Once again we want to thank you all for your prayers!

The old "Camp Monaco" at Coburg remains mostly vacant. It is amazing to us that nobody is here fighting for space. On Monday the 16th we took the Monaco factory tour. Not much has changed except that we noticed some spaces in the production line. Our guide implied that Monaco has slowed down the line in an effort to not have to stop production. It is a sad sign of the times - empty free campground and holes in the production line. Fortunately, Monaco is big enough to absorb this setback and hopefully the economy will recover and grow before any major damage is done.

Tuesday, June 17th, we left Camp Monaco and headed for Monroe Oregon and the site of Amazing Creations. We were welcomed by Scott and Bobby, got parked and then headed off to Guaranty RV in Junction City to enjoy their free BBQ. Every Tuesday in the Summer they host a free BBQ for anybody that wants to stop by. We expected to see familiar faces in the salespeople we know, but did not expect to see old camping friends! Billie & George Strasser spotted us as we walked in and we had a wonderful reunion. They were actually there to see our salesman, John St. Sauver - it is such a small world! We returned to Monroe and the work began on our TV change-out - even though our appointment wasn't really until the next day. These guys don't waste any time!

Monroe Oregon is a tiny little town just North of Junction City. The site of Amazing Creations is amazing in itself! We are parked out in the country surrounded by huge pine trees. It is a very relaxing atmosphere - if you have to be stuck somewhere for service this is the place to be!

Our second day at Amazing Creations dawns cloudy and cool - again. Summer is slow to come to Oregon! We headed off into town to do some shopping. On the way back to Monroe, the clouds seemed to part and a hole of sunshine and blue skies appeared - almost right over the site of Amazing Creations. Kinda like they exist in a "vortex of good" - we are happy to see the sun.

The installation is progressing very fast. In addition to the cabinet and remodel of the front for the 32" TV, we are also getting a re-make of the bedroom for a 19" LCD. Bobby, the electronics wizard, has run an extension cable from the bedroom TV to the outside of the coach, so we can have a TV in our Gazebo in San Diego - perfect for watching the Chargers this fall! He has also fixed our RV-30 Charge Controller - which thru wear and tear and miles of rough roads, had broken most all of the solder points causing it to be very hot and not charge the batteries with the solar panels very efficiently. His checking around found out that this model is not made anymore and the replacement is well over $300.00. His ingenuity has saved us at least $300.00 - and that is just for the part!!!! We are falling in love with these guys.

Another day is done, and as the above picture shows, things are looking pretty good up front and our new TV should be in and functional tomorrow. It is amazing how getting rid of all the spaghetti and installing some good cables and connectors really made a difference in the quality of the picture we receive. Yesterday the new TV was good and today it is great! We weren't receiving any digital channels yesterday and today we are getting several very well. We are the only coach here this afternoon, so we are getting their full attention. The cabinet that held the old TV will be remodeled to hold all the electronics. The door will be a grill and a small fan will be installed inside to assist in cooling the components. Stay tuned cause it won't be long and we will be done and on our way again!
