Color Country - Southern Utah!

We landed safely at our appointed campground - Western Horizon's Resort St. George Utah, and were met by our friends Diane and Ray Brehm. After doing just the basic set-up requirements, we were welcomed with a wonderful Happy Hour at the Brehm's coach - followed by a Dinner which included grilled Portabello Mushroom Burgers! They were delicious and we all had a great time catching up.

Tuesday we all headed into St. George for some sight-seeing and shopping. Ray introduced us to his new favorite beer (our's too now) - Polygamy Porter! We are in Utah and I guess someone has taken the time to poke fun at the Mormon's past - in any case this beer is a keeper! The labels proclaim "take some home to the WIVES" and "why have just one?". We were even lucky enough to find it on tap in Hurricane.....it was delicious!!!!

Wednesday morning we all loaded up again and headed back North this time to explore the Kolob Canyons of Zion National Park. This is where the "Color Country" comes in. The colors and spectacular formations all around us were awesome.

This is the first look at the canyons when you come around the bend from the Visitor Center. Below are a few more of the fantastic views we found here.

The four of us - Diane, Ray, Andy & Linda - pose in front of the beautiful sights of the canyon, after a grueling 1 mile hike up to a vista point. We are tired and ready for another adventure.

We left the Kolob Canyons behind to go explore the tiny town of Virgin Utah. I think this little souvenir "tourist trap" is called Ft. Virgin - the guys just had to check it out!

Looks like Andy has found something interesting.

Well ---- maybe not so interesting after all????

I must say the beer slogan made me giggle.
