Day two of Framing complete....

We learn today that “framing” is a lot more than just “framing". Today the Framing Crew did some really amazing stuff.

The pictures don’t show just how hard it is to get all the heavy lumber from the ground up to the second level. These guys really earn their money with hard labor!

Starting to look like a real building.

This is one BIG saw! It is really an art to fabricating a staircase. This guy spent most of the afternoon just cutting this stringer - he has another one to do tomorrow! These beams are special ordered and he has one try to get it right. Normally you measure twice and cut once - I am sure he measured three or four times to cut once - the pressure of making a mistake would be overwhelming to say the least.

Our first trip to the sun deck. Tomorrow we will have real stairs to get there - this “ladder” was a little scary. The views from the deck were awesome.

End of the second day of framing. It is starting to look like a real building. Things will start slowing down a little now and the overall look of the building won’t change much for awhile. We have at least one more day with the framers - then a couple days with the electricians, before the finish work begins. Tomorrow the stairs will be the big accomplishment.

As a side note - Our little piece of paradise got a lot more crowded today! Our neighbors to the West and East arrived this aftenoon. We are no longer alone in the desert! Our block has 7 lots occupied now - a week ago there were only two of us! I guess the great weather has drawn everybody home...........If you aren't here you can't understand.
