We headed out this morning from Idaho Falls for Salt Lake City Utah to pick up two of our Grand Kids at the airport. We had a nice drive and visit to the Commissary and BX at Hill Air Force Base before heading to the airport. The kids were due to arrive at 7:20pm on their connecting flight from Denver. They arrived in Denver from Atlanta on schedule - then the weather got ugly in Denver and most all of the departures were delayed! We arrived at the airport to discover that they would not be arriving until 10:00pm! Since we were not allowed past the security area and all the facilities at the airport are past the security area - we decided to leave the airport and come back when they would be arriving. We got in the Jimmy and all H..L broke loose!!! The racket from under the car was horrible. We decided to try to limp out of the airport (so we wouldn't have to be paying all those dollars they want for more than 2 hours!) and find a hotel for the evening as we figured we could not make it back to Idaho this night. We barely made it into the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express near the airport. The Jimmy just froze up and wouldn't go forward or backward. Luckily we are able to put it into "true neutral" and was able to push it out of the way. We went in to the front desk and told them of our delemia. The people here were so nice to us and quickly got us set up with a room and all the little necessities that we didn't think to bring on a day-trip (like toothbrush and paste). The shuttle driver was very accomodating and made sure that we got back to the airport in time to meet the kids - and then came back to bring us back to the hotel. So...... at least we were able to enjoy all the fireworks in the valley on the way back from the airport!
Hard to tell at this point what will happen in the next week. Andy says he thinks it is something to do with the drive shaft - we hope it is that and not the transmission!
We hope everyone else had a wonderful 4th of July! Ours is one we aren't anxious to repeat.
