This morning the skies were all overcast and gloomy - it feels like Yuma doesn’t want us to leave any more than we want to leave. The cloudy skies were a blessing as we were able to get most of our work done before the sun broke out and it got hot.
Tomorrow it is time to hit the road again for awhile. We are reluctant to leave even though we have endured more than 14 days of triple-digit temps in the last two and a half weeks! 105 wasn’t so bad, but a couple days of 109 with increased humidity let us know it was time to get out of Dodge, so to speak. Unfortunately, it seems that the heat wave has spread way up into Oregon and Idaho already, so we can only hope that it will pass and be cooler by the time we get there. With all of our Dentist stuff done for now, we have been busy getting everything closed up for the Summer. Not much left to do - we have successfully cleaned out the freezer and are now trying desperately to consume the excess wine and beer that we accumulated (oh, woe is us!). Each time we start to put down roots it is harder to pull them up - this time it is harder than ever cause this is “our little piece of heaven”! This last 3 weeks the temps have been much higher than normal, so we are told, but even so we have enjoyed it all and look forward to next Spring for the “normal temps”! We can only hope that the Fall is “normal” - whatever that is!
I spotted this dove and her mate this morning on our neighbors porch. The pair were apparently not successful in making a nest anywhere in time before the egg was laid. It rolled back and forth all morning while they desperately tried to fashion a nest for it after the fact, but sadly it was not to be - the egg eventually rolled off the edge to the ground. Hopefully next year they will do it in the right order - nest first, egg second!
Our travel plans are really quite simple - boondock the first night at Peggy Sue’s Diner near Barstow California, boondock the second night at the Rolling Hills Casino in Corning California, then arrival at the Cummins Coach Care facility in Coburg Oregon where we will hopefully get a hook-up site while we await our appointment for service. While we are in the Coburg area we will be getting new tires on the front of the coach and the dash air serviced, in addition to our yearly maintenance stuff at Cummins. Tuesday June 2 we will move to Albany Oregon for the Western Area FMCA Rally. After the rally we will have at least 3 days in the Bend Oregon area before we head for Idaho.
It will be a busy Summer for us, so stay tuned for updates on our travels and progress. We hope to cross paths with many of you during the next few months.
