Another Beautiful week in Central Oregon comes to an end.....

All is well with us here in Central Oregon. We had a wonderful week visiting with our friends here and the relief of getting our wheels back. This is what we see when we look out our backyard! Lots of snow still around here - melting fast, but there is still plenty left. They were skiing on Mt. Batchelor over the 4th of July!



Our friends, Ken & Nita, took us for a ride to check out some local lakes. This area of Oregon is in the Newberry Caldera - the remains of several ancient volcanos. The first photo is of Paulina Lake and there is a second "twin" lake next to it called East Lake - both are in the remains of a volcano. It is said that these two lakes actually used to be one lake, but subsequent eruptions divided them into two separate lakes. Both are deep and crystal clear - should be excellent for fishing! The second photo is of Paulina Peak - the snow is evident and beautiful. The third photo shows that there are still fairly large piles of snow scattered around the campgrounds in the area. Ken is planning on an outing for us at these lakes with his new-to-him boat, with some fishing most likely to happen. We will see how that goes and you know I will report! We have almost two weeks left here in this area - we will definently make the most of our time.
