THE PERMIT IS APPROVED and we are on our way!!!!

Our revised plans have been approved and the permit has been granted. The workers for our General Contractor were scheduled to arrive by 10 am to begin the demolition of the outside walls so the Plumber could have access to finish his rough work. The Plumber arrived at 11am and was very unhappy to find nothing had been done. He got on the phone and then told us he was going to go do some other stuff and would be back later this afternoon - he left his supply trailer behind, so we almost felt like we had a “hostage” - kind of guarantying that something would get done today. The demolition worker arrived at 1:30 pm and within half an hour he had all the siding down and was gone. The Plumber came back a little while later and finished up his work. The 1st inspection is scheduled for tomorrow - then we will see what happens next.

The Plumber filled the air way with water for the leakage test. The rest of the new drain pipes are sealed and when the inspector comes tomorrow this pipe should still be full of water - if it isn’t, then there is a leak --- we are hoping it is full and the inspector gets wet when he checks it out!

This is our permit - as you can see they are making sure it is well known that this is not a dwelling! They were very picky on this one and they used their red pen liberally on the plans. I guess they are covering their behinds just in case we break the rules? In any case, we have the permit for the building - what happens inside after it is all over will be our secret.

Another beautiful South Western sunset. The sky was so clear all day I didn’t think we would have a sunset that would warrant publication - but I was wrong and this one ranks right up there with some of the best!

Tomorrow after the inspection - assuming we pass - the Concrete Contractor should return to finish the forms. If he gets done tomorrow, we should be scheduled for inspection on Monday. If the forms are not set tomorrow, then they will be done on Monday and the inspection will be scheduled for Tuesday. After the forms are set we will also need the Termite treatment and the Compaction Test completed before the inspection can take place. It is looking like if we get concrete poured by Tuesday we will be lucky…..keep your fingers crossed for us! Stay tuned…….
