My wonder at the end of my last post was granted and we indeed did get surprise visitor's this year - and we couldn't be happier! Our good friends Lew & Dottie Anderson arrived on New Year's Eve day to spend a couple days with us before heading to Indio for the first rally of the new year. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and then feasted on Chili Colorado and Cornbread, along with some various adult beverages, Champagne and a bottle of very special Sparkling Wine with flavors of Black Currants - thanks to Lew & Dottie - to toast in the New Year together. (I will omit the fact that it was 10 pm and that we watched the big ball drop in New York, but hey it was the New Year in the USA!) We also managed to enjoy a few games of Peg's & Joker's - the women won 2 out of 3 - we let the guys win to keep the moaning down alittle - smile!
This first day of the new year is supposed to be nice and warm - if the wind would quit it just might make it! Today is our traditional meal of Blackeye Peas, Ham and Collard Greens with more Cornbread. I am sure there will be more Peg's & Joker's and adult beverages - and of course best of all good friends and good times!
