Today we are off again for some touring. Our destination this morning is the Badlands National Park just to the East of Rapid City.
We decided to take the scenic route on South Dakota 44. The scenery was beautiful - but unknown to us there was some major road construction. It was hard for us in a car - I can’t imagine what the people in the motor home were thinking!
The "Badlands" - or "Mako Sica" as the Indians called it - was quite hostile to travelers. Can you imagine trying to get a covered wagon thru this area?
It was very surprising to us that there was so much grass and trees growing here in the Badlands - we watched a film at the Visitor’s Center and were surprised to learn that there is lots of life that thrives here.
It was very windy - and cold!
Our next stop was Wall South Dakota and Wall Drug Store. This is not like any drug store you have ever seen before - it is a huge conglomeration of little shops and displays of history - plus a lot of fun stuff to just enjoy!
We are back in the land of the “Jackalope”!
Our new best friend?
Andy’s new best friend !!!!
After shopping a little, we returned to Rapid City and stopped at the “On The Border” Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was good and we will probably go back before we leave!

The weather looks so cool. Great pictures of The Badlands and Mount Rushmore. I bet you had not seen
that much rain in a long time.
