Travel day in Colorado….

We are safely in Monument Colorado. We have a great site - not so easy to get to it! We are way up on the hill - the entrance to this campground is down below. The road winding thru the trees to get up here was a little tricky, but worth it. We are kicking back enjoying full-hookups again - even if it is for just one night.

The day started out with some major construction areas - this is the season of construction, you know the four seasons? Fall, Winter, Spring, and ……..Construction!!!! Fortunately we were thru all the construction in the first 30 miles of today’s travels. As you can see from the photos, the day is cloudy and overcast. Great for traveling - not so good for photos of the scenery!

After getting set up, we went back to check out the BX and Commissary at the Air Force Academy just South of our campground. This base is probably the prettiest one we have ever been on. We encountered deer and turkeys as we drove around the base! The cadets all live and go to school up on the hill at the back of the base. Everything is green and absolutely beautiful. We missed the big parade into lunch - we have seen it before and if you ever get a chance to see it don’t pass it up. It is very moving and beautiful.

Tomorrow is yet another travel day and “one night stand” - the last “one night stand” for awhile, hooray!!

Why didn't you stay at the fam camp at the academy? thought you knew about it or would have told you so sooner.

If you have time go to the Red Top in Colorado Springs Burgers, Malts & fries to die for.
